- The paint job will take you much longer compared to the painting speed of the pros. An experienced paint crew can paint the entire house in 2-3 days (depending on square footage and job complexity). However, if you only paint on week nights and weekends the same job may take you 2-3 weeks. During this time, the area that you are painting will not be usable and the house will be in a general state of disarray. Thornton House Painting

I found DECA on HomeAdvisor while searching for a contractor to price out painting my new condo. Carlos from DECA was prompt and came out that week to give me an estimate. What I didn't realize was that Carlos and his team were also full scale remodelers doing flooring, plumbing, electrical (new outlets, ceiling fans, pendant lights, etc.) in addition to painting. I got estimates from 6 firms, and it made the most sense to proceed with Carlos and his team since they could do everything I needed done, within a very short 2-3 week time period. I also thought their estimate was very fair and in line with the others. Plus, his thought process was def aligned with the things I wanted to do, and I got the vibe he would be a good fit for this project. This was my first condo purchase and remodel, and needless to say, we have all heard the stories of contractors that don’t show up, do sloppy work, go way over budget, or disappear after getting some money. I am here to tell you, Carlos and his team at DECA were great from beginning to end. They were there to get the job done, and any issue or questions I had along the way, Carlos was happy to answer or solve, in person or via text. He was also very prompt in all communications. DECA painted my entire place, from doors, to walls & ceilings, and all vents, ripped up and redid my kitchen and bathroom floors, installed a new toilet, bathroom vanity, regrouted my tub, installed ceiling fans, pendant lights, redid my island and counter tops complete with an under mounted sink, and even helped me turn my coat closet into a cocktail/bar closet by removing the door, installing my wine fridge (where he ran new electric for), a quartz countertop (cut from the larger slab I used in kitchen) and painted the interior as I described to him. If they ever had a question or concern, Carlos would text or call me for clarification. I consider myself VERY lucky to have made the right decision in the project. All of his 5 star reviews on this site are legit and well-deserved. I am more than thrilled with the results of his work and would not hesitate to use him in the future. If you are looking for a contractor you can trust, DECA is the place. It's the little things: The last day, as Carlos was finishing up some minor things, I was bumbling around trying to change out the locks on my front door”he noticed I'm not great at anything involving tools, and quickly took over and did it for me. I had some extra materials to take back for a refund at Floor & Decor”he stopped what he was doing, and grabbed boxes of tile, and helped me load them to my car without me asking. Cleaned the place after done -- enough that I could move in without having to worry about it. I had a screen from one of the bedroom windows sitting on the floor, and they popped it into place for me mentioning. Thanks Carlos!
It’ll cost you between $500 and $1,000 to paint the exterior yourself. Not including paint, it’ll cost you no more than $200 to $300 at a home improvement store like Home Depot, Lowes or Menards. You may end up spending more if you buy high-quality products from specialized shops. Professionals can get the same supplies for about half what you’ll pay. Thornton Home Painting

Most siding material needs at least some sort of scraping, sanding or stripping before repainting. Chipped or bubbled paint not firmly adhered to a surface creates a weak area that leaves fresh paint more vulnerable to damage. Scraping removes large loose pieces. Sanding then smooths the edges of whatever paint remains. Keep in mind the process varies based on the type of siding.

- Go for neutral colors. Every person has their own color preferences, so there is no point in trying to impress with the trendiest hues of the current year. Instead, go for time tested, classic and neutral colors, such as beige, taupe, cream, shades of grey, off white. If you want to add more color on an accent wall, shades of blue, green, or warm earth tones always have a nice general appeal. Thornton Home Painting
Hand-painted murals can mimic the effect of wallpaper by introducing a story and pattern. But it's also safer inn splash zones like the kitchen, where wallpaper may feel a little more risky for some. Here, the lavender swirls of paint on a buttercream backdrop complement the elaborate blue chandelier, too. Then the classic, neutral cabinets and island ground the space. Thornton Home Painting

We had a slab leak and it ruined our floors. We looked and looked for a contractor that we felt we could work with and we believed was reliable. After talking with five contractors and receiving their bids, we decided on Carlos. Carlos and crew were awesome! We accepted his bid and they started the next day! We had a time crunch because of visitors coming and Carlos worked on Thanksgiving morning so that our company could come to a home where they would be comfortable. Carlos went with us to the supplier to help us purchase the necessary materials. They did the sheetrock and painting, laying the new floors, and the baseboards. It was so stress free having one person looking after the whole project. We couldn't be more pleased with Carlos and team! We would give him a six-star rating but we are pleased to make it a five across the board as that is as high as we can go!!! Thornton Home Painting
Hutch-N-Son, Inc. are top-notch. I just had my ceiling repaired from a roof leak, several rooms repainted and crown molding installed. The team did a fabulous job! They are polite, professional and super clean. The paint looks great and the crown molding adds so much detail and appeal to my rooms. I would highly recommend Hutch-N-Son to anyone looking for drywall repair, painting or crown molding. They are simply the best. Thornton House Painters
Paint supplies cost anywhere from $10 to $100 or more depending on what you need. Painters will typically provide most of the supplies for a project, but sometimes they will allow you to pay for solely labor if you provide all the materials yourself. You might decide to do a DIY paint job down the road. In which case having these supplies on-hand will save you time and money.
IF you want to have textured walls or ceilings, expect to pay at least 50% more for the job per square foot: $6-7.5 per sq.ft. Interior paint really varies in price and quality. Cheap paint by brands like Valspar can cost as little as $20-30 per gallon for flat/matte paint. High-end brands, such as Farrow and Ball, that have very high quality pigments that don't fade overtime as well as unique colors can cost as much as $100-120 per gallon. Thornton House Painters

Great experience. I had Rigo handle my 3 daughters' rooms and their bathroom - 500 sq ft total with 9 foot angled ceilings. He painted the walls with 2 colors per room, white for the ceilings, and re-painted the trim. Rigo was honest and helpful. He will under-promise and over-deliver. Very punctual and always moving. I think he took 20 minutes to eat out of 1.5 days. If you talk to Rigo, he can do a LOT more than just painting. He showed me a project where he hung kitchen lights and "removed" a tray ceiling - looked like it had never been there. He had also just finished a turnkey outdoor covered patio project, with ceiling fan mounted onto a solid wood beam that looked fantastic. Can't wait to have more money so I can have him paint the rest of my interior. And build a covered patio in my back yard... House Painting Thornton

When determining the total cost of a home’s exterior project, you’ll want to include things like the trim, a garage, foundation, windows and doors. All work is calculated by square footage and sometimes by the linear foot, such as in the case of trim. Your contractor will give you a price for the entire project unless you specifically ask for each item separately. Thornton House Painting

Most of a projects price is the cost of labor at $25 to $75 per hour. However, most contractors bid out based on the entire project which includes all work hours. Hourly rates are only useful if your pro asks to do the job as “time and materials.” However, be wary of this pricing structure, it usually shows the contractor is uncertain how long the project will take. A single gallon of paint can run anywhere from $20 to $80 per gallon. Professionals get a contractor discount of anywhere from 25 to 50 percent. For rough siding, like stucco, you’ll need to use 10% to 20% more paint. Some textures, like wood and stucco, require extra paint because they have more surface to cover in a tiny area compared to smooth siding. Use the highest quality exterior paint your budget will allow for your project. It will look the nicest and save you money by offering better coverage and durability. Better coverage means fewer coats and fewer work hours. You’ll also go a few years longer without needing to shell out more cash for a new coat. How do you know how much paint you're paying for? Here's some helpful math: Thornton Home Painting
Without a doubt, it's a look that rarely goes wrong. When you have a traditionally styled home with plenty of trim and other details, you best serve that home aesthetically when you increase the contrast between the trim and the field color. For the broad white trim of this new-construction home, Illinois-based JB Architecture wisely shaded down the field color's gray to emphasize its difference from the white trim. Thornton Home Painting
And of course, there's always a time and place for crisp white paint. Here's proof that sometimes it really is the best choice of all, even if it's also the most obvious. Alexander M. Reid opted for a crispy, bright white for this traditional bathroom and then added splashes of blue for a classic combo. The graphic floor tiles liven it up and the white walls serve as a perfect backdrop for the gallery of artwork. Thornton House Painters

In addition to covering more surface, painting a multi-story home requires additional equipment. Scaffolds, for example, take longer to erect, move and disassemble, and climbing up and down ladders takes time. Minor repairs are more complicated — tasks that may take only one painter at ground level require two for safety at higher elevations. In general, expect a 20–60% premium for each level your home has in addition to the additional square footage.

Repainting a room or even the entire home is one of the most popular DIY remodeling projects. This is because many budget conscious homeowners would rather spend time and effort to paint their house then spend $2,000+ on a professional paint job. The truth is you can easily save 50-60% off the cost of professional painting if you go the DIY route.

Staining a deck costs $540 to $1,000. Covered porches might hit $2,000. Consider negotiating the price a bit lower by combining it with a full exterior job. Painting handrails can run anywhere from $1 to $2 per linear foot, depending on whether it’s wood, metal or some other material. Although you might think this is an easy $30 to $100 job, most painters charge a minimum fee regardless of the size of the project. You’ll probably end up paying at least $150.
